Crissey Elementary has adopted PBIS, Positive Behavior Intervention System. With this program as a guide, we are using the acronym L.E.A.R.N. to help students remember the expectations in our classroom.
- Listen Actively
- Eyes on Teacher
- Always Respectful
- Ready to Do Your Best
- Now Challenge Yourself
In order to encourage positive and curb negative behavior, the third grade uses a clip chart system. This method allows students to clip UP the chart for following rules, or clip DOWN the chart when rules are broken.
If a student clips all the way up the chart in a day, he or she will get to choose a coupon. Coupons include rewards like Bring a Fluffy Friend (stuffed animal), Wear a Hat, Sit in the Teacher's Chair, and other things students enjoy.
If a student clips down the chart once, it is considered a warning. The next clip down results in a logical consequence, which may mean writing an apology note, wiping desks off, etc. The consequence is tied directly to the behavior. Finally, if a student clips down to the last place on the chart, his/her parent will be notified.
